He was born on 7 March, 1930 in Prague. At the Prague Conservatoire, he studied trumpet in the class of professors Pařík and Junek. He was taught conducting by professor Smetáček. For twenty-five years, he held the function of the Central Czechoslovak Army Band chief conductor.
From 1970, he was a special advisor of ŠKODA AUTO Company Brass Orchestra which cooperated with the Czechoslovak Army Central Music Band. He held this function together with Eduard Kudelásek until 1981. Irregular though it was, the cooperation was invaluable and very contributive for the development of the orchestra.

His flair for music he inherited from his father and already as a six-year-old boy he began to learn to play the violin, viola, contrabass, trumpet, piano and violoncello. He was born in 1937 in Vlkava village in Mladá Boleslav region. The milieu in which he grew up gradually made him become a professional musician. After the completion of primary education he studied trombone playing at Prague Conservatoire by professors Šimsa and Hejda. In 1958, after graduating, he did two-year military service in Malá village as a divisional band trombonist. After finishing the military service, he asserted himself as a musician in various symphonic, dance, or music-hall orchestras.

František Holub is inseparably connected with the history of ŠKODA AUTO MLADÁ BOLESLAV Company Brass Orchestra. Music was part of his life from his early years. He was born on April 24, 1909 in Leipzig. After returning with his parents to Bohemia at the age of 14, he enrolled the 47th infantry regiment music band in Mladá Boleslav. Here he stayed until 1929, when he was transferred to the 39th infantry regiment in Bratislava. He seized this opportunity, having even deepened his practical musical knowledge. He was born on May, 6th, 1935 in Zubří in Vsetín district. His interest in music was kindled at the time he began to attain school, namely the interest in violin play which he studied by his teacher Oldřich Stromšík. Piano he studied by his blind father. He was born in the picturesque foothills of Jeseníky mountains in the village Ruda nad Moravou on October, 4th, 1923. After usual beginnings with playing the violin, he further broadened his musical knowledge. In 1945 he did military service at a band in Šumperk. He was born on 25 February, 1911 in Jiříkov near Český Dub. After graduating at an Army School of Music in 1928, he did military service as a baritone player and a cellist. He took active part in Army Bands of Cheb, Jelšava, Kroměříž, Hradec Králové and Prague. In the years 1939-1946, he got further with his cello playing by professor Pravoslav Sádl and conducting he studied by professor Pavel Dědeček. In 1946 he was appointed a teacher at a Army School of Music, later on, he became the deputy headmaster and during the years 1948-1950 he was its headmaster. He was born on June 2, 1905 in Kolín. He gained basic musical knowledge from the Mladá Boleslav bandmaster Rejnart, as did the majority of the folk musicians, then. Thanks to his sedulity and talent, he achieved splendid results as a violinist, oboist and percussionist. Being a good organizater, he was predestined to the post of a bandmaster and later on a headmaster of dance and vaudeville orchestra. This art career served as a good base and an impetus for his founding of a brass orchestra in 1939. Enthusiasts among his workmates in the ASAP car factory were of great help to him. He was born in Hamburg, March, 5th, 1915. After he and his parents had returned to Czechoslovakia, he showed interest in music as early as in early childhood. He played the violin, the contrabass and the tuba. He was employed in the car factory and indulged in music, which was his lifelong hobby.
He took active part in various dance and music-hall orchestras and in Mladá Boleslav Philharmony. He belonged to the founding members of the ŠKODA AUTO Company Brass Orchestra as a tube player. He is inseparably connected with the orchestra not only as a player, but also as a manager. For many years he was supervising the management of the orchestra, the chairman of which he was from 1952. We do not know much about this personality and the only source of all the following information are testimonies of his contemporaries. What we know is that he was member of various musical bands in Mladá Boleslav. He worked in the car factory where he founded a small brass orchestra composed of his workmates - musicians who were very fond of brass music. From 1935 on, the ensemble played at various social events. Later on, in 1939-40, a brass orchestra gradually evolved from this band under the official leadership of the musician and bandmaster Josef Hrouda. This brass orchestra was active already as the Car Factory Orchestra.
